Maxwel Cornet is not actively seeking a move away from relegated Burnley despite interest aplenty from the Premier League and Nottingham Forest, according to reports. Forward Cornet, 25, caught the eye in the Clarets side despite the fact that they succumbed to the drop at the end of last season.
He scored nine Premier League goals as Burnley battled in vain against the bottom three, and it was expected that he’d be on the move this summer - 12 months after completing his move to Turf Moor in the first place.
Cornet still has four years left on his Burnley contract, after making that £12million switch from Lyon last summer, and according to LancsLive despite the fact that they’re preparing for Championship football, Cornet isn’t currently agitating for a move.

That said, new boss Vincent Kompany and the club know that they’re powerless to prevent Cornet leaving the club if any interested suitor meets his relatively affordable £17.5m release clause. Forest are one of a number of clubs who have been credited with an interest in the Ivorian.
Newcastle United and Fulham, who like Forest are preparing for the top flight after sealing promotion last season, have also been extensively linked but, for now, Cornet remains in Lancashire and is getting ready to be involved in Burnley’s pre-season friendly campaign.

Forest reportedly enquired about Cornet to gauge whether the player would be interested in making a switch to the City Ground as the club, under Steve Cooper, continue to put plans in place for their long awaited return to the top flight.
It’s been a busy summer for promoted Forest, who have snapped up Omar Richards, Neco Williams, Moussa Niakhate, Taiwo Awoniyi, Dean Henderson and Giulian Biancone already.
