Maxol garage in Dublin offering to be safe place for women who feel unsafe

A Dublin garage has made an incredibly kind gesture by offering to be a safe place for women who feel unsafe when walking home.

The Maxol garage in Dolphin's Barn is offering to be a safe haven for anyone who feels unsafe walking home or if there is an emergency.

It follows a nationwide conversation about women's safety in Ireland after the death of Ashling Murphy.

The popular garage wrote on social media: "In light of the recent violence towards woman we would like to remind you that our shop is a safe haven always open if you feel unsafe walking home.

"If you are approached by a stranger and feel unsafe or if there is an emergency please use our stores until a family member can come pick you up...tell them to come to our shop.

"It's an option to keep in mind so they are safe."
