Max Wober reveals his father's Leeds United connection after Premier League debut

Leeds United's newest signing Max Wober has admitted that his father has long been an admirer of the Whites after making his Premier League debut against Aston Villa.

The Austrian international replaced Pascal Struijk after 67 minutes against Unai Emery's side which marked his first minutes as a Whites player in the English top-flight.

Having joined from Red Bull Salzburg last week, the centre-back could bring a new dynamic to manager Jesse Marsch's side, with the 24-year-old potentially being the piece to solve Leeds' defensive woes.

Speaking to the Official Leeds United podcast, Wober admitted that while it was nice to bring his family to Elland Road to watch his new team play against West Ham, it was an even better experience for his father.

"Yeah, they loved it [Wober's family visiting Elland Road]. My father has always been a big football fan so it was nice for him because it's his first time going to Elland Road.

"He's a big, big English football fan so most of his wardrobe is full of England shirts, like really, really old football shirts. And he has one old Leeds shirt from the 70's or the 80's so he's been trying to find it for the trip."

Co-host and former Whites striker Jermaine Beckford chimed in, saying: "Do you know what I took from that? It sounds like Max's dad is a Leeds United fan."

Wober then laughed and said: "Definitely, definitely! After the first game, and experiencing the atmosphere, he's definitely a Leeds United fan. And of course he has no other choice!"
