Max Stryjek tipped for Celtic, Rangers or England pathway as Livingston boss David Martindale admits exit in works

Livingston boss David Martindale admits Max Stryjek will "probably" leave the club this summer.

But he believes Ivan Konovalov will be more than capable of assuming the club's No.1 spot if that comes to pass.

Russian stopper Konovalov stepped in for Livi's last two games after Stryjek was given a two-match ban and while Martindale admits there have been no accepted offers, he concedes the Pole is likely to leave.

"We're still a good bit off in terms of Max leaving the building," Martindale said.

"But there have been enquiries via agents and other clubs. I've not really spoken to Max about it."

Tony Mac gaffer Martindale wouldn't reveal the identity of the interested clubs.

But he knows Livingston are always going to be a stepping stone club with a move down south or to Celtic or Rangers the ideal scenario.

There is a proven pathway there with Lyndon Dykes joining QPR while fellow Livi alumni Declan Gallagher and Craig Halkett have now wound up at Aberdeen and Hearts.

Both Glasgow clubs may be happy with their lot between the sticks though the Hoops may feel they could give Joe Hart a higher quality backup while Gers must wait to see if Allan McGregor wants to play beyond this season.

Martindale added: "The unique selling point for anyone who comes into our club is to try and get themselves a move to England or to the Old Firm, or failing that, to the Edinburgh two or Aberdeen, where the wages are substantially more than you're going to get at Livingston.

"Everybody who comes here uses us as a stepping stone.

"I do believe Max is probably not going to be here, because there is a good bit of interest, so I've got to do what's right for the squad and I think, from what I've seen of Ivan, he's more than capable of being the number one next season."
