Max George sweetly celebrated girlfriend Maisie Smith ’s birthday with a romantic surprise.
The former EastEnders actress jetted off on a break to Abu Dhabi with Max, 34, in the run up to her 22nd birthday, and the couple have been sharing snaps from their getaway on social media.
The Wanted singer shared a slideshow of photos on Instagram on Sunday, as he paid tribute to his “gorgeous” girlfriend, who he’s been dating for almost a year.
“Happy birthday my gorgeous girl. Every day with you is…. Different,” he joked, alongside a crazy face emoji.
“I LOVE it. You’re the most special person in my life. I love you Mais,” Max wrote.
In one photo, Max is kissing Maisie on the cheek as they indulged in coconut cocktails in a luxurious pool, and another shows the actress posing on a bed filled with rose petals.
Their room at the five-star hotel was adorned with gold balloons, spelling out “Happy Birthday” as well as two huge 22 balloons, and towels were made into the shape of a cake on the bed.
Maisie was wearing a stunning orange midi dress with her red hair tied up in a ponytail, and she cheekily chomped on a strawberry as Max snapped a photo.
“LOVE YOUU TOOOO TY BBY,” she commented on the post, as Max’s fans inundated the happy couple with messages.
“Honestly love seeing you both so happy @maxgeorge after everything you’ve been through this is what you deserve,” one wrote as another gushed: “Happy Birthday Maisie, I hope Max has spoilt you.”
“Loveee thisss!!! You guys are such an adorable couple!!!” one gushed, as one fan agreed: “You too were made for each other! What a beautiful couple.”
Max also shared a video of the couple lounging on the rooftop pool of their hotel on Sunday, and the singer began teasing his girlfriend.
“It’s someone’s birthday today,” he said in the clip on his Instagram Stories. “I was about to say ‘who’?’” Maisie laughed, as Max leaned in for a quick kiss.
The couple began dating in the summer of last year, and were spotted kissing on a flight to Crete in August. They made things official just a few weeks later, as Max threw his support behind Maisie as she took part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
However, they’ve faced criticism of their relationship due to the 13-year age gap, and the actress hit out at those who were being negative.
“People don’t understand what goes on behind closed doors in a relationship, and I think they also forget that I’m a consenting 21-year-old woman who’s actually been working longer than Max!” she told The Sun.
