Mauricio Pochettino has already warned Todd Boehly that 'too many big stars' can cause confusion ahead of his potential Chelsea appointment. The 51-year-old has been heavily linked with taking the reins at Stamford Bridge as the Blues look to replace Frank Lampard at the end of the season.
Julian Nagelsmann emerged as an early favourite to fill the vacancy in west London but, after talks broke down, he distanced himself from proceedings. Luis Enrique was also name-checked in relation to the head coach position but, after reportedly making several demands, he also dropped out.
Now, according to The Times, Pochettino is the frontrunner, with Vincent Kompany and Ange Postecoglou said to be on Chelsea's radar too. The report states that the former Paris Saint-Germain boss has held 'a series of positive talks' with the club this week, establishing himself as an 'extremely strong candidate'.

If the Argentine is to be appointed then he'll likely be granted a war chest upon his arrival. The Blues spent over half a billion pounds on player signings this season, welcoming some big names through the doors at Cobham training ground.
And, with Chelsea's results yet to show any sign of the eye-watering investment, Boehly looks set to spend even more in the summer. However, during Pochettino's time in the French capital, he admitted that he struggled to juggle the personalities of several 'big stars'.
As quoted by Goal in November 2022, the former PSG boss claimed that having the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar at his disposal was not the blessing that everybody thought it was. Pochettino even revealed that sometimes key decisions were taken out of his hands with the squad filled with 'number ones'.
"It [PSG] was the experience we needed, the experience of living with big stars and interacting at the top level of football," Pochettino said. "It was the challenge of putting yourself in a difficult situation and trying to make such a special club work.
"You need to constantly adapt because there was too much greatness. For Barca to have Messi or for Madrid to have Cristiano is a blessing.
"But when you put in too many players who all need their place and to be number one, there can be confusion. In the end, when you play, it's 11 players with one ball. There was a penalty, and who takes it? It's not even a coach's decision."
While it's unlikely that Chelsea will sign Messi, Mbappe and Neymar, Boehly has been reminded that he doesn't necessarily need to build a team of superstars to be successful.
