Chelsea could be involved in a transfer merry-go-round as Todd Boehly steps up his plans to sign a superstar striker.
Several clubs - including the Blues - are on the hunt for someone to lead their attack next season. Karim Benzema’s decision to join Al-Ittihad has forced Real Madrid into the market for the first time in a decade.
It is no secret that Chelsea are also searching for a striker after a miserable 2022-23 campaign. Just 38 goals was lower than every top-10 club and two out of the three relegated sides.
Despite spending around £600million since Roman Abramovich’s exit, Chelsea do not have an out-and-out striker on their books. Any chance of Romelu Lukaku staging a Stamford Bridge comeback appears slim and reports suggest Inter Milan will attempt to sign him permanently.

A report from The Times has claimed Chelsea are eyeing another Inter striker, Lautaro Martinez. It is unlikely that the two clubs would agree to a swap deal but the Blues may need a favour from Tottenham Hotspur and Harry Kane to land the Argentine.
The report names Real Madrid as another potential destination for Martinez as they aim to replace Benzema. Should he join Los Blancos, that will all but end talk of Kane - currently evens at the bookmakers to join Madrid - leaving for Spain.
Mauricio Pochettino may need Real Madrid to raid his former club if he is to entice Martinez to West London. Spanish outlet Marca has claimed Los Blancos president Florentino Perez will try to sign Kane for a cut-price fee given his contract situation.
Doing so could trigger a domino effect that plays perfectly into Boehly’s hands. At £70million, Pochettino will be hoping his compatriot can be the answer to Chelsea’s prayers should Martinez join the Stamford Bridge rebuild.
