Mauricio Pochettino holds vital Chelsea transfer talks for $87m deal amid Moises Caicedo worry

Welcome to the football.london transfer briefing. To help you keep on top of all things Chelsea going on in the market we've got the latest noises coming from social media, journalists and so-called ITKs, rounding up what's what in the world of the Blues.

Chelsea talk with Vlahovic

Chelsea are continuing on with plans to speak with Juventus about striker Dusan Vlahovic as they look to secure a new first-choice forward for Mauricio Pochettino.

The Blues have already signed Senegal novice Nicolas Jackson and versatile attacker Christopher Nkunku but are really after a sure-fire answer to their goalscoring problems. Now, Italian reporter Rudy Galetti writes that Chelsea will hold discussions with the player and that a price tag of £68million ($87m) has been set.

He writes: "Vlahovic, talks between Chelsea and Juventus is about to begin. The Italian club - without UCL - needs to sell and alreay set his price tag: around €80m to let him go. Pochettino wants the Serbia striker: evolving situation."

He also added: "Everything confirmed since mid-June: Chelsea are interested in Vlahovic and opened talks with Juventus. Discussions will go ahead in the next days. Pochettino considers Dusan the ideal striker."

football.london says: We've seen this one before. Chelsea chasing a striker proven in Italy as their goalscoring problem continues to worsen. Romelu Lukaku, join Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain in the category of horrible transfers.

Juventus have a good record at coming out on top when Chelsea deal with them and even though Vlahovic has shown immense skill and quality, it's hard to shake the feeling that they could be done again, here. He is only 23 and has his best years still to come, the Blues hope, and he does fit the characteristics of a potential Pochettino addition, there's just a worry with every big name striker coming into the club.

Realistically, though, Jackson is an unknown quantity and isn't likely to immediately fill a void that needs immediately filling in order to have success under Pochettino in the first season. With Vlahovic he would surely find a player that becomes undroppable and immensely important, how well it would equate into goals is much harder to predict.

Moises Caicedo fear

Chelsea transfer target Moises Caicedo is fearful of being priced out of a move to Stamford Bridge this summer, according to reports. The 21-year-old has given the green light to join the Blues but now has to wait for an agreement to be reached between the clubs.

The Seagulls are demanding £100million ($128m) for the player after Declan Rice's fee to join Arsenal dictates the market for midfielders and it is said that Caicedo now worries that Chelsea will fail to match Brighton's valuation and that he could be left without a move.

football.london says: Caicedo has already shown he is willing to go rogue in order to secure a transfer after he effectively handed in a request to leave in January. However, having agreed that he would be sold this summer, Chelsea have more power than it may seem.

Brighton themselves proved with Alexis Mac Allister that signing a new contract, as Caicedo has done, does not necessarily mean that an easy deal is off the table. Chelsea have a free run at Caicedo now with Manchester United and Arsenal doing their business elsewhere in the midfield and the player is eager for a move to London.

It all points towards a deal being done and that really should help things progress. Whether there is a stalemate for long enough to see one side cave in ahead of pre-season, it remains to be seen, but what is clear is that it is currently in the best interests of all parties to come to a middle ground this window to get a move over the line.
