Mauricio Pochettino 'green lights' £70m Chelsea transfer alternative to Victor Osimhen and Kane

Although Mauricio Pochettino is expected to officially start his managerial position at Chelsea on July 1, work in the summer transfer window has already begun. The Blues are in desperate need of adding depth in numerous positions and acquiring a natural striker is the utmost priority.

Napoli star Victor Osimhen is one of the high-profile targets but a mammoth offer will be needed for the Italian champions to sell their star man. Harry Kane has been discussed as a possible signing especially as a reunion with Pochettino likely appeals to the Tottenham forward.

However, the answer to those problems could already be at the club. Romelu Lukaku is on loan at Inter but that temporary spell expires in the summer and he will then return to Stamford Bridge. Pochettino is then expected to give the Belgian striker another chance to establish himself in the first-team squad.

Ivan Toney has also been recommended to the club but his recent eight-month ban has cast significant doubt over a summer move. Outsiders linked to fill the role include Lautaro Martinez, Goncalo Ramos and Dusan Vlahovic, with the latter a recipient of an offer from west London that was sanctioned by Pochettino according to a new report.

ESPN claim that Chelsea have already make an offer to Juventus worth around £70million. The Serb forward has struggled consistency in front of goal with form and injuries affecting his game time. Despite this he has managed 10 Serie A goals this season with a further four strikes coming in European action including what looked to be a crucial goal in Juve's Europa League semi-final against Sevilla before the Spanish side scored a late goal to advance into the final.

The report also adds that Vlahovic is unhappy at Juventus and a move to Chelsea could reignite his stuttering career. Arsenal have also been long-linked with a move for the 23-year-old but their own options in attack likely mean a move this summer is unlikely which could further open the door for Chelsea.
