Maura Higgins almost died from toxic shock syndrome (TSS) after medics found a tampon inside her, three months after she used it.
The Love Island star revealed she had a "very bad experience" and is hoping by speaking out, she can raise awareness of the risks for people.
TSS is mainly associated with tampon use in young women but it can also affect men and also children and can be fatal if not treated appropriately.
