Matthew Vaughn is currently in the midst of producing his next feature film, 'The Stuntman,' a caper directed by stunt performer turned director Damien Walters. The film follows the story of two brothers who pursue careers as stuntmen. Produced under Vaughn's Marv Studios banner in collaboration with Walters' Zebbo Productions, the film is currently in production.
Production for 'The Stuntman' took place in Hampshire last October, where a local newspaper reported the installation of a '1970s-style fun fair' in the village park, featuring attractions like a helter skelter and ferris wheel. The film is slated for a premiere at either the Toronto International Film Festival later this year or Sundance in 2025. Vaughn has revealed that 'The Stuntman' is part of a new 'Kick-Ass' trilogy, with the first film in the series, 'School Fight,' having wrapped production a couple of years ago.
In a recent interview, Vaughn hinted at a project codenamed 'Vram,' which is the second installment in the trilogy. He also mentioned progress on the script for a reboot of the 2010 hit 'Kick-Ass,' which he has been teasing since 2018. Vaughn and Walters have a history of collaboration, with Walters serving as second unit director on Vaughn's spy feature 'Argylle.' Walters, known for his work as a stunt performer in various blockbuster films, including 'Jurassic World Dominion' and 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,' has also been involved in Vaughn's 'Kingsman' franchise and the original 'Kick-Ass' movie.
Last summer, Vaughn and Walters jointly acquired an 80,000 sq. ft site in Derbyshire, England, with plans to transform it into a movie studio and stunt training facility. Their partnership continues to flourish, with 'The Stuntman' marking their latest collaboration in the realm of action-packed cinema.
