Matthew Stafford will have ‘no limitations’ during offseason workouts

Matthew Stafford was limited throughout the offseason in 2022 after undergoing a non-surgical procedure to help manage elbow pain that lingered from the year prior. He didn’t throw at all during OTAs and minicamp, and when training camp began, he was on a pitch count.

Eventually, the Rams held him out of team drills during camp, limiting his workload ahead of the regular season. Stafford already had great chemistry with Cooper Kupp and Tyler Higbee, but his absence clearly hurt his rapport with Allen Robinson.

Fortunately for the Rams, there will be no limitations for Stafford this offseason. Sean McVay said at the annual league meeting on Tuesday that Stafford is healthy and “ready to roll” without anything holding him back.

The Rams will begin OTAs in May and will hold mandatory minicamp in mid-June, though none of those practices will feature contact on the field. That will begin during training camp, which is when the competition really heats up.

Everyone will benefit from having a fully healthy Stafford on the field this spring and summer, especially with so many new faces on the Rams in 2023.
