After the Rams placed Matthew Stafford on injured reserve Saturday, it was assumed he likely wouldn’t play again this season since players are required to miss four games on IR and the team had just six games left.
Buy Rams TicketsAfter the rams’ loss to the Seahawks on Sunday, McVay all but confirmed Stafford is done for the year. He told reporters Stafford has a spinal cord contusion and said there’s a “good chance” Stafford will miss the rest of the season.
After falling to 3-9 Sunday, the Rams are all but out of the playoff race already so bringing back Stafford from what sounds like a serious injury would be illogical. He’ll take the rest of the season to rest and recover before coming back in 2023, seeking to bring back some of the magic he found in 2021 with the Rams.
If Stafford is done for the year, he’ll finish with 2,087 yards, 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions, one of the worst seasons of his career.
