Matteo Guendouzi issues three-word message after Arsenal’s latest confirmed transfer deal

Matteo Guendouzi has welcomed former Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac to Marseille after the defender’s departure was confirmed.

The Bosnian left-back’s move to the Stade Velodrome was announced on Tuesday evening after seeing his Gunners’ contract terminated by mutual consent.

He now links up with Marseille on a free transfer after 118 Arsenal appearances since arriving on a Bosman move from German outfit Schalke.

In moving to Ligue 1, Kolasinac links up with two on-loan Gunners in the form of midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, as well as defender William Saliba.

The former took his time to welcome the left-back to the club, taking to Instagram to comment on Kolasinac’s Instagram post shortly after his move was confirmed.

He wrote: “Hello Marseille! I am happy to announce that I am now part of Olympique de Marseille.

“I look forward to taking on new challenges in the most beautiful city in France. Go Om!”

Guendouzi then replied, writing: “Bienvenue mon frere”, which translates to “welcome my brother”.

In moving to Marseille, Kolasinac will hope to bolster the club’s charge for a Champions League place ahead of next season. As it stands, Les Olympiens sit third in Ligue 1, but could potentially jump to second should they win their game in hand on current high-fliers Nice.

Both Guendouzi and Saliba are currently in the midst of impressive stints with their adoptive clubs.

The former has made 28 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice, whilst Saliba has taken to the pitch on 26 occasions and has been a key reason as to why Marseille boast the best defensive record in the French top flight so far this season.

Kolasinac had so far made five appearances for Arsenal this term - just two of those coming in the Premier League after his spell last season with Schalke 04 - a period that ended with relegation to the 2. Bundesliga.
