Matt Wallace has been a mainstay on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour since his breakthrough season in 2018 and has gone on to claim six wins in total across both tours. Get to know him a little better here with these 20 facts.

1. Matt Wallace was born on April 12, 1990 in Hillingdon, England.

2. His parents are PE teachers, and his Dad also played rugby professionally for the Wasps in the 1970s.

3. After finishing at Aldenham School in 2008, Wallace spent two years as a retail worker for Hollister and occasionally playing county golf, before his Dad told him he needed to decide on a career.

4. Wallace was a very good player of cricket, soccer, and rugby while at school and only began taking golf seriously at the age of 18.

5. He spent a year in Alabama at Jacksonville State University when he was 20, but dropped out after being selected for England Golf’s elite squad.

6. Despite only spending a year in Jacksonville, Wallace secured two wins, was named the OVC Freshman of the Year and held the record for lowest round in school history with a 10-under 62.

7. After turning pro in 2016, Wallace won six times in eight months on the Alps Tour - including five in a row.

8. Wallace only spent one year on the Challenge Tour, winning the Open de Portugal, a dual-ranking event with the DP World Tour, to earn his card for the 2018 season.

9. In his first full season on the DP World Tour, the Englishman won three times at the Hero Indian Open, BMW International Open and Made in Denmark.

10. Wallace's best Major finish is a T3 finish at the 2019 PGA Championship. The year prior, he made a hole-in-one at the event while playing with Jordan Spieth.

11. In his first appearance at The Masters, Wallace won the par-three contest. He went on to miss the cut in the eventual tournament.

12. His career-high world ranking is 23rd which he achieved in 2019.

13. Wallace claimed his maiden PGA Tour win in 2023, with a one-shot victory over Nicolai Hojgaard at the Corales Puntacana Championship. 

14. At the 2023 DP World Tour Championship, he tied the Tour record for consecutive birdies in a row with nine and narrowly missed out on a magical score of 59 by one. 

15. He is a lifelong Manchester United fan.

16. Wallace is attached to Wentworth Golf Club in Surrey, the site of the DP World Tour's flagship event - the BMW PGA Championship.

17. He has earned approximately $16.9 million in prize money since joining the DP World Tour and PGA Tour.

18. After missing out on Team Europe's Ryder Cup squad at Marco Simone in 2023, Wallace worked for BBC Radio 5 Live as an on-course commentator instead.

19. Wallace broke a six-year-and-six-day stretch without a DP World Tour victory when he landed the 2024 European Masters in a playoff against Spaniard Alfredo Garcia-Heredia. Two years earlier, he had lost in a playoff at the very same event to Thriston Lawrence.

20. Wallace uses a variety of club brands through his bag, including Ping, Titleist, Callaway, and TaylorMade. He uses a Titleist Pro V1X ball.
