Struggling Leicester City have reportedly stepped up their interest in Celtic midfielder Matt O'Riley.
Brendan Rodgers ' side have plummeted to second bottom of the Premier League following a summer lacking in any serious investment. They're one of a number of clubs credited in an interest in O'Riley, who Celtic snapped up for just £1.5million from MK Dons back in January. The Daily Mail report the Foxes sent chief scout Sean St Ledger to watch the 21-year-old during last week's Champions League defeat to RB Leipzig as they prepare to step up their interest.
It's stated it's "increasingly likely" the Denmark U-21 international may have a decision to make come January as Leicester look to spend their way out of the relegation mire. O'Riley has described Parkhead as the "ideal" place for his development and although the lure of the Premier League could tempt him, Leicester's currently grim outlook could prompt caution in jumping ship from an environment in which he's thriving.
O'Riley has also been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal following a highly impressive start to his career with the Premiership champions. Former Celtic boss Rodgers, meanwhile, has come under intense scrutiny having picked up just five points from 10 league matches so far. Following Saturday's goalless draw with Crystal Palace, the Northern Irishman reportedly walked out of a media briefing after being levelled with a "disgraceful" question.
Rumours had circulated online that the six-year contract Rodgers signed in 2019 means he's "too expensive to sack" and the speculation was put to him at the weekend, prompting an angry response. The ex-Liverpool manager replied: "I have read on the news what I am supposed to be on and I know for sure that is a total fabrication. It's nowhere near.
"I actually think it is a disrespectful question, very disrespectful. I never asked you how much money you are on or whether there is any blockage in your role from your owners.
"I don't think you need to worry about my wages. If there is a stumbling block in anything, you need to ask the owners that. It's a disgraceful question."
