Matt O'Riley has continued his beef with former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou as he claimed midfielder David Turnbull was hard done by last term.
The Scotland international hardly featured for the Hoops last term under the Aussie manager, but he stepped into Brendan Rodgers' starting XI today and bagged two goals against Ross County in the Scottish Premiership opener.
Turnbull also picked up the man of the match award and appeared on Sky Sports alongside O'Riley at full-time.
"He deserves it as well. Let's be honest it was pretty tough for you last year wasn't it?
"In terms of he is too good not to play football in my opinion.
"I think last season in terms of application, especially off the pitch, he just got on with his work every day.
"Now hopefully he can reap the rewards going forward.
"The competition is very strong in that position. But that is a good thing.
"We have the league and cup competitions and I think we are going to need everyone in the squad. We are probably going to play 60-odd games this season.
"With respect, I don't think anyone is going to play every single game. That means the strength and depth is very important."
On his own display Turnbull added: "The manager has been great. He has just been speaking to me about going out and playing my own football.
"He has told me what he wants me to do and I have just been taking that on board every week. Long may it continue.
"I am delighted for myself and delighted for the team to get the result. It is a good result and it is good to get on the scoresheet.
"Game time has been hard to come by the past few months so it is good to get back in there and hopefully and repay the manager's faith in me.
"It was great to get back out there I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think we could have been a wee bit better on the ball.
"As games progress that will come and it is just about continuing on from where we left off today."
