Matt Healy 's famous dad offered a blunt response to a troll who commented on his son's romance with pop superstar Taylor Swift.
Benidorm star Tim Healy has broken his silence on the alleged relationship between the two hitmakers, although neither have yet to confirm the news.
Matt, who is the lead singer of pop rock band The 1975, and Taylor have been friends for a number of years after a brief relationship more than a decade ago.
With the rumours swirling round, fans have been taking to social media to voice their views on the new dalliance.
One person wrote: "The thought of Denise Welch and Tim Healy being in-laws to Taylor Swift is very, very funny." Tim brutally hit back: "Why?"
It is believed that the couple will go public with their romance this weekend when the Shake It Off singer performs in Nashville, Tennessee.
Last month, it was announced that Taylor had split with actor Joe Alwyn, 32, after six years of dating. She had been linked with Formula One driver Fernando Alonso as recently as last weekend.
However, it appears that songstress has fallen heavily for The 1975 frontman.
A source told The Sun : "She and Matty are madly in love. It’s super-early days, but it feels right. They first dated, very briefly, almost ten years ago but timings just didn’t work out.
"Taylor and Joe actually split up back in February, so there was absolutely no crossover.
"Both Matty and Taylor have been touring over the past few weeks, so it’s been a lot of Face-Timing and texting but she cannot wait to see him again."
Taylor Swift fans are convinced that her new beau confirmed their romance during a gig in the Philippines on Thursday.
Matt took to the stage in Manila and wooed the crowd throughout, but it was one quick reference that caused a huge discussion within the camps of both musicians' fan bases.
The apparent not-so-subtle nod to the rumours came as Matt belted out the tune She's American.
The strange choice of the song came just a day after news circulated about Matt and Taylor's apparent newfound romance.
The tune, which rarely makes it to the band's setlist these days, was first on an album in 2016. Further fuelling speculation, Matt quipped: "She sure is" after the first verse of the song.
Fans have been scrambling to the pair's social media channels for further clues to confirm they are an item, which has led to a number of comments after an image shared by Matt's mum, Loose Women panellist Denise Welch.
The Geordie was seen to be beaming as she hugged the American singer backstage at a The 1975 gig at a sold-out O2 Arena in January.
