Matt Hancock shares truth on bond with Boy George as he addresses I’m A Celeb 'bullying'

MP Matt Hancock has spoken candidly about his fellow I'm A Celebrity campmates for the first time as he lifted the lid on his true relationship with Boy George.

The disgraced former Health Secretary sparked controversy when it was announced that he was joining the show back in October, but it's clear that Hancock was able to win over thousands of British people as he finished third in the thrilling series - falling behind Hollyoaks star Owen Warner, and Queen of the jungle, Jill Scott.

When he first arrived into the jungle, alongside fellow late entrant, comedian Seann Walsh, Hancock received quite the hostile welcome and that hostility appeared to continue throughout his journey when it came to certain fellow campmates - including Boy George and radio DJ, Chris Moyles.

At one point, Karma Chameleon singer Boy George told the politician that he felt bitter about his participation in the show - a confession which sparked a wholly debate on social media, with thousands of fans blasting Boy George as a 'bully'.

Despite what some may think, Hancock himself has admitted that he feels no animosity towards Boy George or any of his fellow campmates as he denied bullying claims.

Instead, Hancock insisted that the group's view of him had 'softened over time'.

"I didn't feel bullied at all in the jungle. I formed an extraordinary bond with Seann Walsh in a short period of time, and then it took a few days to work through and develop relationships with the rest of the campmates," he told Mail Online.

Addressing his conflict with Boy George, Hancock insisted that he thinks the music legend is 'wonderful'.

"Whatever he says about me, I think Boy George is wonderful and I did not expect to say that about him because we have very different backgrounds, to say the least," the politician explained.

"It took us a few days but we had, what I would call, grown-up, respectful discussions.

"Some of them, I could tell, didn't take to me straightaway but it - softened over time. Being in the jungle also gives you lots of time to think about what really matters. I thought about how much I care for the people I really love."

Hancock went on to admit that with each day the public voted for him to remain in the jungle, he was 'really pleased' but missed his children 'desperately'.

He also said that he felt 'guilty' about being so far away from his partner, Gina Coladangelo, with whom he had an affair with last year during strict coronavirus social distancing rules.

Matt Hancock defied all the odds, finishing third on I'm A Celeb 2022.
