Matt Hancock could be on the verge of sparking a row in the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here camp due to ‘annoying food habits’, reports have claimed.
The former Health Secretary was confirmed to have signed up for the ITV reality show when he touched down in Australia earlier this week.
Mr Hancock – who was photographed in Brisbane ahead of the show's launch on Sunday – has faced criticism over the decision to enter the jungle.
However, he could now face a reckoning with his fellow campmates after TV insiders claimed that the MP's ‘greedy reputation’ could ‘cause chaos’.
This comes after Mr Hancock is said to have angered his co-stars on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins when it came to dishing out food at meal times.
As a result, the 44-year-old could irk his co-stars in the jungle when he debuts as a late addition to the cast next week.
A TV source told The Sun that the former minister gained a reputation during filming for Celeb SAS: Who Dares Wins for being ‘greedy and selfish’ when food was dished up on the Channel 4 reality show.
.A source told the paper: “It was clear he wasn't a team player. Matt clearly looks after number one first, and he's bound to annoy his I'm A Celebrity cast mates when he does the same thing in the jungle.
“Food is always a contentious issue in camp, so tempers will really fly if he hogs the grub and doesn't think about other people.
“It will be tense for those in camp, but it will make great TV and producers are hoping it all kicks off.”
This comes after I'm A Celebrity winner Georgia Toffolo has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Mr Hancock’s decision to join the 2022 line-up of the show.
Toff, who was crowned Queen of the Jungle in the final of the show in 2017, appeared on Friday’s instalment of This Morning alongside fellow show alums Peter Andre and Jake Quickenden.
Towards the end of the interview, host Dermot O’Leary turned to the Made in Chelsea star to ask for her thoughts on Mr Hancock’s decision.
The 28-year-old admitted she is ‘normally pretty soft on the Tories’ before she added: “But I think this is disgraceful.”
A spokesperson for the MP told The Mirror: "The second reading of Matt's Dyslexia Screening and Teacher Training Bill is just days after I'm A Celeb finishes. This is an amazing opportunity for Matt to raise the profile of his dyslexia bill and to talk about an issue he really cares about in front of millions of people.
I'm A Celeb is the most watched show on TV. Matt doesn’t expect to serve in Government again, so it's also an incredible opportunity for him to engage with the millions of Brits who tune in every single night.
"Matt is still working on constituency matters and continues to do so. Producers have agreed that Matt can communicate with his team throughout the show if there's an urgent constituency matter.
"Matt will be making a donation to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk, and causes supporting dyslexia, off the back of his appearance. He will, of course, declare the amount he receives from the show to Parliament to ensure complete transparency, as normal.
"This is an amazing opportunity for Matt to engage with the public and to talk about issues he really cares about - including his dyslexia campaign."
