Matt Hancock will finally find out the public’s verdict on him on Friday evening as I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! is set to hold its first elimination of the 2022 series.
Bosses at the ITV reality show have confirmed the first eviction will take place at the end of this week, when one of the 11 campmates will be voted to leave the Australian jungle.
The Mirror earlier this week revealed that the first campmate could indeed be set to leave on Friday, as the show had been extended to 95 minutes.
This makes it the longest episode of the reality show since the series launched earlier this month, giving hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly ample time to chat to the first evictee of the series.
It has now been confirmed by ITV that Friday is indeed the first eviction night, ahead of which the public will be invited to vote for their favourite campmates.
This means a mass vote against Mr Hancock will not be possible to see him walk down the camp’s rope bridge for the last time. Instead he would need to poll the fewest votes to get his marching orders.
Earlier in the series when grilled by campmates on being forced to resign as Health Secretary, Mr Hancock admitted he was on the show ‘looking for forgiveness’.
The other possible contestants who could be the first evicted from the camp include Charlene White, who has upset viewers of late after she was dubbed ‘selfish’ for refusing to sleep in the RV on a mattress as deputy camp leader.
Her decision to instead sleep out in the main camp resulted in her fellow stars needing to sleep in hammocks, which gave Seann Walsh a bad back.
I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here hosts Ant and Dec have called out Charlene after the Loose Women star refused to sleep in the RV on Wednesday night.
The TV presenters headed to their Instagram Live after the live show to weigh in on the bed trouble in camp.
As the Geordie duo did their nightly Instagram Live debrief, they asked fans why they thought Charlene was insisting on sleeping in the camp instead.
Dec said: "Do you get it? I don’t get it," as Ant replied: "Why would you not want to sleep in there? It can't just be because of the spiders. Does she not want to sleep with Matt?"
Dec suggested that could be the underlying reason, as something fans also suspected, but Ant insisted: "I think it might be that but you’ve got to think of others and if other people have to then sleep in a hammock because of your actions and have a bad back, then you’ve got to look at your actions."
Dec replied: "I’m not sure it’s really playing as a team member by doing that. By taking up a bed."
Dec then asked his co-star: "Is she not breaking the rules as a deputy camp leader by not going in the RV?" Ant replied: "I think maybe she is. I’m going to speak to the producers about it."
Scarlette Douglas, a contestant with a relatively low profile compared to big names like Boy George and Mike Tindall, is also one of the bookmakers' favourites to leave camp on Friday evening.
