Matt Goss has shared his unique take on being presented with a sheep’s heart by an adoring fan.

The singer, 54, originally shot to fame as the front man of band Bros in the 80s before going solo and making a name for himself as a Vegas headliner for 11 years.

In that time, he has been given some strange gifts from fans over the years, but one of them left him “alarmed”.

Speaking to the Standard, he explained: “I’ve been given some strange gifts which are pretty awful in some ways.

“I’ve been given an uncooked, frozen turkey wrapped in Christmas paper, I’ve been given a sheep’s heart as a declaration of love...”

Matt Goss called the incident ‘a Damien Hirst moment’ (IBB Media)

Asked how he responded to that gift, which he confirmed had not been specially prepared or wrapped, he replied: “In some weird artistic way, it was a Damien Hirst moment. It’s a little alarming.

“I also get beautiful letters and cards and they are very thoughtful. [My fans] know I like antiques and stuff so I get tie pins and really thoughtful gifts.”

It will be interesting to see what he gets given next as he has just announced a new UK and Ireland tour for 2023, including London dates at Croydon Fairfield Halls on February 27 and Royal Albert Hall on March 15.

Speaking about the tour – which will also take him to Oxford, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, Dublin and Belfast – he has vowed “it’s going to be glamorous”.

“On this tour I have a big band and an orchestra. I’m gonna bring it! There’s gonna be some testosterone in the room and some swagger and I just want people to come and have a really beautiful night. It’s going to be glamorous. I want people to come and really feel alive, I think I’m that artist – I’m unashamedly that artist.”

Matt Goss says he’s looking forward to getting back on the road in 2023 as he tours the UK and Ireland (PA)

In addition to Bros hits including When Will I Be Famous and I Owe You Nothing, Goss will be performing latest single The Beautiful Unknown, along with songs from a brand new album he is currenty working on featuring songs by revered American songwriter Cole Porter.

Due for release in June, he will be recording tracks such as I Get A Kick Out Of You and I’ve Got You Under My Skin with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios.

Goss recently appeared on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, but says he will only be showing off “very limited” dance skills on stage.
