Sources revealed that Trump personally informed Gaetz that he lacked enough support in the Senate to be confirmed for the role. This information was based on discussions between the president-elect and lawmakers. Gaetz had met with Republican senators the day before as part of Trump’s transition team efforts to assess his potential confirmation. Meanwhile, Democrats were pushing for the release of a House Ethics Committee report regarding allegations of sexual misconduct and other misconduct against Gaetz during his time as a congressman.
