Matt Doherty is set to miss the rest of the season, including Ireland's Nations League fixtures in June.
The in-form Tottenham wing-back suffered a knee injury in his side's 4-0 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday at Villa Park.
It's a big blow to Doherty, given his transformation over the previous weeks, contributing two goals and two assists in his last five matches prior to the weekend.
The injury happened in a challenge with Villa defender Matty Cash and afterwards Spurs boss Antonio Conte expressed the hope that the Dubliner wouldn't be sidelined for long.
"I hope nothing serious, I hope," the Spurs boss said after the game.
"The doctors are going to check on him tomorrow.
"I hope nothing serious because he wanted to try to continue to play but then at the end he preferred to come out.
"I hope so because Matthew is an important player for us and I hope this injury is not serious."
However scans have shown that he will be out for 12 weeks after rupturing his medial collateral ligament in his knee, according to the website football.london, with no decision made as yet as to whether the 30-year-old will have to go under the knife to repair the damage.
Doherty has also become an important player at international level for Kenny, who will his reaction at a press conference later today to the setback for the ex-Wolves star.
