The Matildas have failed to capitalise on multiple gilt-edged scoring opportunities in a 1-0 loss to Canada in a pulsating international soccer friendly at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium.

Olympic champions Canada took a 1-0 lead into half-time thanks to a superb strike by Adriana Leon and three cracking saves by goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan when Matildas skipper Sam Kerr appeared certain to score.
