The Prime Minister will announce his intentions today to ensure all pupils in England study maths until the age of 18.
Rishi Sunak will deliver his first speech of the new year where, alongside proclaiming to set priorities for tackling NHS backlogs, he is expected to say that there is a need to "reimagine our approach to numeracy" and stress the importance of sending children into the world with essential skills.
Despite this, details surrounding how this will be carried out have not yet been released. However, Number 10 highlighted that the government will not make maths A-levels compulsory for British students.
