Mateusz Bogusz's Leeds United exit confirmed as permanent deal completed

Mateusz Bogusz has left Leeds United to sign a permanent deal with MLS side Los Angeles FC. The 21-year-old has penned a four-year contract with the California-based side, with the club holding the option to extend his deal to the end of the 2027 campaign.

The MLS season is just four games old and Bogusz will be keen to help Steve Cherundolo’s side continue their unbeaten start when he receives his international transfer certificate and visa. Bogusz’s switch brings an end to his four year stint with Leeds, having joined the club from Polish outfit Ruch Chorzow in January 2019.

He made just one league appearance for the Whites during his time at Elland Road, coming in the final game of the club’s promotion winning Championship campaign against Charlton Athletic. The Poland under-21 international midfielder also made two appearances in the Carabao Cup for United, both coming under the stewardship of Marcelo Bielsa.

Bogusz has spent the last two seasons on loan with Spanish second tier outfit Ibiza, overcoming a cruciate ligament rupture along the way to make 46 appearances and score six goals for the club. The move to LA means Bogusz will be playing alongside the likes of Giorgio Chiellini, former Arsenal forward Carlos Vela and ex-Hull City, Leicester City and Everton goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic.

“Mateusz is a talented young player with great ability who will provide another quality piece to our club,” John Thorrington, the club’s co-president and general manager said.

“He is a dynamic and exciting attacker who has the ability to help our group in our ambitions to win more trophies. I am excited to welcome Mateusz to Los Angeles.”

LAFC are the current holders of the MLS Cup and after topping the Western Conference in 2022, they will be competing in both the CONCACAF Champions League and the Campeones Cup this season.
