Matalan shoppers have been left feeling frustrated after the store has introduced a new small charge.
Some stores have already had the new charge in place for a few months, with others only just introducing the change. Now, customers in clothing stores will have to pay 10p for plastic coat hangers as well as the normal 10p charge for carrier bags.
Matalan has brought in the change to 'reduce plastic waste' by encouraging shoppers to re-use their hangers, but the new charge has seemed to annoy some shoppers. Fans of Matalan took to Twitter to share their frustration.

One shopper tweeted: "My weekly shopping update: Asda's yellow range is going up and Matalan now charge 10p per hanger. Isn't it nice when corporations charge customers for inconveniences. Seriously do not have the energy for here, now I'm off on my walk to save on fuel [sad emoji]."
A second shopper tweeted Matalan and said: "Why do you charge for hangers?"
One angry mum tweeted: "When did you start charging people for the hangers?? If this is the case you need to stop supplying ones for baby clothes where the accessories are attached to the hangers."
A Matalan spokesperson responded: "Hi Bonni, to ensure sustainability it is important for the environment that all plastic wherever possible is recycled."
"Matalan is charging for the hangers to encourage customers to leave them in the store so that they can be recycled and used again."
The change comes after the retailer introduced new rules last year where shoppers now have to remove their own security tags at self-service checkouts.
