High street favourite Matalan has landed itself in hot water over a £20 Jubliee dress - just a day after Asda row were plunged into the same row.
The clothing retailer has been praised by shoppers for its ‘pretty’ £20 Jubilee dress which has proved popular with customers.
But the shop has found itself in hot water with retailers over matching Union Jack dress which made been made for mums and daughters ahead of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.
After launching their Union Jack dress, the clothing retailer shared a picture of the dress, posted: “Jubilee weekend is around the corner and this [is] the perfect garden party dress Shop the £20 dress.”
The Papaya Blue 70s Floral Shirred Midi Dress doesn’t have Union Jacks all over, but it does have a pattern fit for a garden party, according to Manchester Evening News.
There is one problem with Matalan’s dress - it has completely sold out.
And just like Asda the only size available is in size 10, report Mirror Online.
Supermarket giant ASDA had issued an apology after it launched a range of matching £8 Jubilee dresses for mums, aunties, sisters, grandmas and daughters.
George at Asda posted a picture of the dresses to its 727,000 followers this week and said: “Twin in dresses fit for Queens. Prices from £8!”
The supermarket says the dresses have been so popular, they sold out in ‘record time’.
They were so popular with customers ahead of the long bank holiday weekend, shoppers took to Instagram to complain after they sold out online.
Responding in the comments, George at Asda offered an explanation and said: “Sorry folks, you loved the dress so much it sold out in record time!!
“The team are working hard to get more sizes available online. It may be worth checking in your local ASDA store”.
This has left shoppers less than impressed with the limited sizes available as social users expressed their disappointment.
Suzanne Oliver wrote: “You keep putting lovely dresses on here, then when you look on the website they are never in stock, some never come back in stock, what is the point?!”
Manders JG responded: “Agree 100%! Happens all the time and is annoying!!!”
Sarah Kate O’Connor said:”I hope it comes back in to stock.” But for the most part, people were blown away by how ‘pretty’ the dress is.
Lucy Blackburn praised: “I have this. Its very soft and comfy.” Jenny Stubbs said: “Love this dress.”
Natasha Staddon commented: “Love that one.” Annmarie Welch said: “This one’s so pretty.
