MasterChef fans say Edinburgh contestant 'looks just like' major A-list celeb

An Edinburgh MasterChef contestant performed exceptionally on the BBC cookery show last night - however viewers weren't discussing the dishes after many pointed out a noticeable celebrity lookalike.

Dean, 41, from Portobello in Edinburgh, is a multiple sclerosis ambassador and lives at home with his three sons, aged 9, 14, and 22.

He prepared a pan-roasted venison loin, fondant potatoes, a carrot puree and a pancetta and black pudding crumble, served with a masala wine and blackberry jus.

Impressing both John and Gregg, Dean was awarded a MasterChef apron, and a pass into the next round of the BBC culinary show.

However, as much as many viewers were excited for the Edinburgh participant, others noticed something else interesting about Dean.

Fans flocked to social media to point out the celebrity comparison, with one Twitter user writing: "Dean is played by James Cordon… #MasterChef"

Another said: "Expecting some Corden Bleu cooking from Dean....#MasterChefUK #MasterChef"

And a third wrote: "Dean looks like James Cordon #MasterChef"

Another user even tweeted a photo of the TV personality, stating: "Master chef #MasterChef Dean?"

Other social media users were congratulating the local on his work, with one Twitter user saying: "Dean’s dish looked very scrummy!… #MasterChef"

A second wrote: "Decent work for Dean. Looked lush #MasterChef"

And further comments said: "Dean's venison and fondant potatoes looks bloody lovely. Venison looks perfectly cooked. I'd sooo smash that. #MasterChefUK #MasterChef"

Masterchef UK continues on Thursday, April 21 on BBC One at 8pm.
