MasterChef fans were left in stitches during a recent episode of the BBC cooking show as Chris Eubank left a big impression with his antics.
Celebrity MasterChef returned to screens to show how a group of celebrities could fare in the kitchen, under the watchful eyes of Gregg Wallace and John Torode.
Former boxer Chris Eubank was joined by Gareth Malone, Cliff Parisi, and Mel Blatt as the group whipped up various dishes including fish and chips and basil pesto and pasta.
However, as the episode got underway, BBC viewers were slightly distracted from the dishes being whipped up in the kitchen by Chris’s intriguing commentary on the action.
Ahead of the first challenge, Chris predicted he would do better than all the other contestants, declaring that they “complain” too much as he said: “You’re here, so let people see your light.”
Chris quickly ran into challenges with the daunting use of a pasta maker, but was not once fazed as he said: “Once you’ve been smacked in the teeth by Nigel Benn, you’re quite used to fear.”
A slightly more quizzical quip came when judges John and Gregg asked Chris if he had tasted his pesto before serving it, to which he confidently replied: “I can see the taste with my eyes.”
MasterChef viewers were left in stitches at Chris’s appearance, with one writing on Twitter : “Chris Eubank saying ‘I can see the taste with my eyes.’ I’M DEAD.”
A second wrote: “Chris Eubank is killing me,” as another said: “Chris Eubank on MasterChef is the gift that keeps on giving. Never mind cooking in a three piece suit…”
Although the boxing star frequently said he felt “stupendous” about his dishes, he unfortunately faced the chop from the show and was eliminated.
The twenty celebrities in this year’s series have been put to the test on the culinary show, as they chop, slice and sizzle their way towards lifting the iconic trophy in the Celebrity MasterChef final.
The new series of the culinary show features four heat weeks to whittle down the twenty competitors with an array of challenges including cooking street food.
Those who progress to the semi-final and final week will face cooking for large numbers of people. Meanwhile a special centenary challenge to mark 100 years of the BBC will also take place in the competition.
The winner of the new series will join the likes of presenter Riyadh Khalaf as well as athletes Kadeena Cox, and Greg Rutherford – who have all been champions in recent series.
Celebrity MasterChef returns Thursday at 9pm on BBC One.
