Bristol supermarket manager Woei John Lee was eliminated from MasterChef tonight (April 11). The 41-year-old, who is originally from Ipon in Malaysia, wowed judges with his opening dish before ultimately failing to deliver with his second.
Woei's final appearance on the BBC show could not have started better as he delivered a flawless Taiwanese-braised beef noodle soup. The dish was praised by all three judges, including guest William Sitwell, with Gregg Wallace even saying that "he is through" halfway through the programme.
However, his fortune changed as he faltered with his second plate of food. He opted to cook a chilli and beef cottage pie, layered with sliced aubergine, courgette and mozzarella cheese.

After some positive feedback from Gregg Wallace, John Torode said: "I'm not a fan. The flavours are just really confused. The coleslaw I find really unusual. The honey and tuna is just too many things going on."
After being eliminated, Woei, who moved to Bristol 13 years ago and now lives in the city with his wife and daughter, said: "I got an apron so I proved myself. I'll remember my journey and my passion for food is just beginning."
