Massive new Edinburgh estate will have 14-storey flats with roof top garden

A new set of flats is set to be constructed in Edinburgh that will see over 330 new homes at Ocean Terminal.

Encompassing four large ten or 14-storey blocks of flats, the site will take over currently derelict land, transforming it into a new community space.

Being constructed by Goodstone Living, the development is being created as a build-to-rent project, meaning that the company will own the blocks and rent out flats individually.

With the company managing all of the sites, residents will be given state-of-the-art living, with modern features and a selection of free amenities.

According to plans, these will include an on-site gym and a rooftop terrace that will allow tenants to have a safe outdoor space as well as enjoying the views of the Forth.

With planning permission already granted, construction on the project is hoped to begin in the summer of 2022.

Images of what the site will look like have shown the four buildings each appearing slightly different from each other, with 338 new flats set to be created.

Speaking to Scottish Housing News, Martin Bellinger, principal at Goodstone Living, said: “With Edinburgh’s world-class financial district and university nearby, a vibrant restaurant scene, start-up community and an edgy mix of arts and culture, Leith is recognised not only as one of Britain’s most attractive rental neighbourhoods but one of the world’s.

“Edinburgh is one of our core markets because of its young, highly educated and growing population, pointing to a deep pool of future talent which is currently undersupplied with quality housing.

"Our strategy will continue to identify opportunities such as this where an undersupply of quality housing matches with key criteria for growth and further regeneration."
