Experts have warned that should the Government make proposed changes to the way MOT testing works across the UK, punters could end up paying more in the long run through repairs.
As it stands, brand-new cars in the UK require an initial MOT test when it becomes three-years-old, but the Department for Transport launched a public consultation in January, as to whether this should be extended to four years.
The DfT were also said to be considering whether to push back subsequent annual MOT tests to every two years instead of yearly.
