BIJNOR: Customers were bustling about and trying clothes in trial rooms when a major fire broke out in the multi-storied top clothes showroom in Bijnor city on Sunday afternoon. Cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained but a short circuit is suspected to be the cause, said Ajay Kumar Sharma, chief fire officer.
All customers and staff were evacuated safely. Goods worth several crores were gutted in the fire. The fire broke out around 1pm and engulfed the building within 10 minutes. Showroom's staff immediately informed fire tenders and police. People were seen running helter-skelter but all were rescued.
