Massive ‘fancy’ pigeon captured by volunteers on North Side

A Giant Hungarian House Pigeon, about twice the size of a common pigeon, has been seen at Welles Park for days before it was captured by volunteers. It will stay with volunteers until a home can be found. (Pat Nabong/Sun-Times)

A red-winged blackbird swooped down and pecked Andrea Whetsell in Lincoln Park Zoo last summer.

So perhaps her bird radar is a little twitchier than most.
