Massive blaze breaks out at Jaguar Land Rover dealership

Firefighters tackling a blaze overnight after a huge fire broke out at an Inchcape Jaguar Land Rover dealership.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) today remained at the scene of the blaze in Preston, with as many as 10 fire engines at the scene on Bluebell Way during the night. LFRS confirmed that the 10 fire engines, from different fire stations from across the county, attended the scene at around 1am on Friday, April 7.

Firefighters used aerial appliances to tackle the fire, with a number of specialist appliances at the scene at around 3.40am today. A drone team was deployed and photos of the large blaze were shared by LFRS.

The 100mx100m building was found ablaze in the early hours but crews have now scaled back their efforts. In a video update from the scene, the public were urged to still avoid the area at around 7.20am.

Area manager Joe Rossen said from the scene: "Through the night we've had a significant fire involving an industrial unit in Preston. We've had a large number of resources here through the night we've had at its height nine fire engines, two aerial ladder platforms and a large number of specialist resources.

"My thanks go to all the firefighters who arrived quickly and worked really hard in very arduous conditions and they've actually managed to suppress the fire and stop it from spreading and we're in a much better place after a few hours of this fire going. We're actually starting to release fire engines from this incident.

"My thanks also goes to all the partners who have attended and supported through the incident. My advice to members of the public we will be here for a number of hours still to come.

"Please, if you notice any smoke keep your doors and windows shut and also please try to stay away from the local area."
