Massive Ayrshire Ferris wheel opens today as entry fees are announced with incredible views across the skyline in prospect

Troon's big wheel will open today.

After passing through council red tape the major attraction is set to begin turning.

Punters will be able to queue up for a unique chance to see their town from the air.

Dubbed the 'Troon Eye' the towering feature at the town's shorefront will be in place for most of April - just in time for the Easter school holidays.

And standing at 32 meters high it promises to provide stunning views which will stretch for miles on a clear day.

The man behind the wheel, Mr McIndoe told Ayrshire Live: "There is plenty of excitement in the town.

“Everyone has been fascinated by it so it is going to be great to finally welcome the public.

“Here is hoping the good weather returns so people can enjoy the skyline from a different perspective."

Mr McIndoe has quashed any rumours that the wheel will come at a high cost of £15 per ticket.

Families of four will be able to grab a seat on the wheel for £20, while a standard adult ticket is £6, for children under 1.5 meters it will be just £5 a go.

And there promises to be plenty of space for groups with 6 allowed in each carriage.

Yesterday Ayrshire Live told how the wheel was finally granted a Public Entertainment Licence after council officials were left stunned by its appearance.

The wheel will open at 11.30am today.
