Massimiliano Allegri confirms imminent Juventus transfer that could be bad news for Arsenal

Aaron Ramsey is set to leave Juventus this month, Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed.

And according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the former Arsenal midfielder remains in talks over a return to the Premier League before the January window closes a week on Monday.

The Wales international bid a tearful goodbye to the Emirates Stadium faithful at the end of the 2018/19 season as he sealed a free transfer to the Old Lady.

However, Ramsey 's time in Italy hasn't quite gone as he would have liked and he was recently voted as the biggest flop in Serie A, as revealed by Football Italia.

Now into his third full season at Juventus and his game time has significantly reduced.

Having started the opening game of the campaign against Udinese, Ramsey has only featured twice more in Serie A since and has made two substitute appearances in the Champions League totaling 14 minutes of action.

The reasons for the 31-year-old's lack of game time vary.

On one hand, he's has missed 14 games through injury, as per transfermarkt, but on other occasions, he's either been left on the bench of simply left out of the matchday squad altogether.

His recent absence was as a result of a positive COVID test, but despite recovering and returning to full training he won't be in contention to face AC Milan on Sunday as his exit is imminent.

"Aaron's not with the team as he’s set to leave the club," Allegri revealed in his pre-match press conference.

Whilst a return to Arsenal is unlikely, Ramsey's departure could have an impact on his former club's transfer plans.

As previously reported by football.london, the Gunners are hopeful of signing the Welshman's teammate Arthur Melo on loan for the remainder of the season.

Furthermore, Goal have claimed that progress has been made regarding a deal with Arsenal technical director Edu sitting down with the midfielder's representative, Federico Pastorello, in London this week.

But following Allegri's admission over the futures of Arthur and Ramsey, it would appear that only one midfielder is leaving Juventus this month.

"The market? The squad is this and it will remain this, I repeat Arthur came from six months of inactivity, his playing time is increasing and the results are evident, he is a player that cannot be discussed," Allegri added.

As a result, Mikel Arteta and Edu may have to turn their attentions elsewhere for a midfield signing, although time is running out to get deals done before the January 31st deadline.
