A restaurant in Massachusetts is facing public outrage after allowing World War II re-enactors dressed in Nazi SS uniforms to dine in, according to a report.
The incident took place after a reenactment event at the American Heritage Museum, where re-enactors in period uniforms were involved in a battle demonstration, Tri-City Herald reported.
After the event, eight re-enactors, including several dressed as German Nazi soldiers, went to Kith and Kin in Hudson, Massachusetts in costume.
The restaurant staff did not comment on their attire and allowed them to dine in, leading them to later apologize for the offense.
"If we truly thought these individuals held anti-semitic beliefs, we would never have allowed them to step foot in the restaurant," Kith and Kin said on a Facebook post. "Last night we fell short, and we deeply apologize."
Since then the restaurant owners say they have faced a lot of backlash, leading them to temporarily close the business to recalibrate.
"After last night's new airings, our restaurant has been the target of increased harassment and threats. Therefore, for the safety of our staff, we will unfortunately be closed today, Tuesday, October 15," they wrote on Facebook.
