Massachusetts Moves to Revoke All 12 RegalCare Nursing Home Licenses After Four Immediate Jeopardy Findings in Three Years

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has moved to revoke the licenses of all 12 RegalCare nursing homes in the state, finding that owner Eliyahu "Eli" Mirlis is not suitable or responsible to run long-term care facilities. DPH issued the notice on Oct. 13. Over the past three years, about 90 inspections at the homes produced four immediate jeopardy findings, Boston.com reported.

Immediate jeopardy is the most serious category of nursing home inspection finding. It describes situations that cause, or are likely to cause, serious harm to residents. RegalCare told The Boston Globe it would challenge the state's action.
