Mason Mount body transformation shown on Chelsea pre-season under Thomas Tuchel in USA

Chelsea's pre-season base in Los Angeles is being put to good use by the travelling players. Alongside Callum Hudson-Odoi, who has already spoken of his bodily transformation over the past two months, Thomas Tuchel has another fired up and motivated player to work with.

The Blues are currently at their UCLA base in America and have now teamed up with Raheem Sterling as well. They could also be joined by several more new signings across the coming weeks as they prepare for the new season.

As well as bringing in new players though, football.london has already reported that Hudson-Odoi has been putting himself through a fitness regime to bulk up for the new campaign, and he's not the only Blues player to do so.

The 21-year-old winger told the club website that he wanted to come back from his injury-laden second half of last season stronger than before, and the same message has been taken on board by Mason Mount. Chelsea's player of the year for the past two seasons has turned up to training in the USA and looks like a new man.

As well as a bigger beard and shorter hair, Mount has clearly been working in the gym over the summer to improve his strength, as pictures of him flexing his arms have circulated on social media. The 22-year-old was the top scorer for Tuchel in the league last term, with 11, and registered 10 assists as well.

In a similar way to how Bayern Munich have become famed for some of their own stars gaining muscle in a short space of time at the club, Mount has joined Hudson-Odoi in being even more prepared for the season than normal.

Speaking to SkySports, Mount said, "I think it's just natural, as soon as you get older you start filling out a bit more. Over the last three years, I've gained a bit more structure. It's something I work on. You want to be someone that's able to put yourself about a bit as a midfielder but people are picking up on it."

Although Mount has been used primarily as an inside forward under the Chelsea boss, he started life as a more natural No.8-type midfielder and could be used their again this season as the Blues look to change the shape of their team.

He still considers himself as a midfielder and has clearly felt the benefit of a gradual increase in body mass as he continues to improve year-on-year on the pitch. Everyone involved with the club, and with England ahead of the winter World Cup in Qatar, will be hoping that Mount's impressive form continues next season.

"It's not done yet," he added. "It's a long journey and it's only the start of it. You want to work at that side but you've still got to be sharp and agile, and doing the stuff I do, pressing and running forward. You've got to be able to do that as well, so it comes hand in hand."
