Manchester United have responded after allegations were levelled against the club’s striker Mason Greenwood on social media.

The England forward was accused of abuse against girlfriend Harriet Robson during a series of graphic Instagram posts that have since been deleted.

In a statement released on Sunday morning, United said they were aware of the images and allegations but would not be making any further comment until establishing the facts.

"We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media," a United spokesperson said.

"We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind."

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: “Greater Manchester Police is aware of images and videos circulating on social media.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

Greenwood, 20, has spent his entire career to date at Manchester United, scoring 35 goals in 129 senior appearances after graduating from the club’s academy.

He also has one senior international cap for England, which came in the Uefa Nations League win over Iceland in September 2020.
