Chris Kamara was at the centre of a big twist as he was eliminated from The Masked Singer, becoming the first star in the show's history to have a second costume.
After its first three series proved to be huge and rather surprising ratings winner for ITV, the crazy guessing game who has us all trying to answer the all important question 'who's that behind the mask?' made its return on Sunday night, become the big draw of the channel's New Year's Day schedule.
The first episode of The Masked Singer series four saw a host of different characters compete against each other in a bid to earn the studio audience's votes. First up were Knitting and Jellyfish, before Otter and Ghost took to the stage, with Cat & Mouse and Phoenix taking part in the final battle.
Jellyfish, Otter and Phoenix all avoided being at risk of being the first character to get the boot, with the panel then choosing Ghost to go home, ahead of Knitting and Cat & Mouse. Jonathan Ross guessed at Love Island narrator Iain Stirling to be the celeb in disguise, while Mo Gilligan seemed convinced it was comedian John Bishop.
However, all of their guesses proved to be off the mark as Ghost was actually Soccer Saturday legend Chris. And it took longer than expected for him to reveal his identity as, after he took off the white sheet part of his costume, he then didn't give himself away as he had a skeleton costume underneath, which he then removed the top of for his big unveiling.
The judges were already in a state of shock at the second costume twist and had a similar reaction to the fact Ghost was Chris; with them apologising for criticising his singer, given the football pundit has actually released a number of albums.
