After weeks of keeping millions of viewers thoroughly entertained, Rhino won The Masked Singer on Saturday night, putting an end to arguments between fans over his identity as Charlie Simpson was revealed as the new champion.
It was back at the start of January that Rhino made his debut on the hit ITV show, covering Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars for his first performance. And that was all it took for many viewers to decide that Rhino was Charlie, largely down to the Busted star's instantly recognisable voice.
It took until a few weeks ago for one of the panel to guess that it could be Charlie behind the mask, with Davina McCall the first judge to finally cotton on to what Masked Singer viewers had been saying for weeks. As well as Charlie's singing voice giving him away, fans' convinced it was him had their theory backed up by several clear hints in Rhino's many VTS during his time on the programme.
clues eluding to the 'not much has changed but they live under water' line from Year 3000, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn showing up in a VT in a nod to Crashed The Wedding and a 'show for everyone' - a clear refence to Busted's Ticket for Everyone tour, they are happy to argue their theory with anyone who challenges it.
Rhino took to the stage for a final time on Saturday night, performing solo twice and with former Masked Singer contestant Harlequin, who was revealed to be Dreams star Gabrielle back in series two.
Right before the final, viewers who had come to believe that Rhino wasn't Charlie, but James Arthur, claimed to have found 'evidence' that it was the X Factor 2012 champion inside the costume, after discovering that he followed a Twitter account called 'Rhino The Masked Singer - official.'
Jonathan Ross was also sure Rhino was James, guessing him right 'til the end, but he and others who thought the same were proved wrong when, after Rhino beat Ricky Wilson's Phoenix and Natalie Appleton's Fawn, Charlie was finally revealed to be the celeb behind the mask.
Before the big reveal, one fan tweeted: "I’d bet my house on it being Charlie Simpson, why do people think James Arthur? The clues don’t add up"
