The Masked Singer fans believe Rubbish on this year’s instalment of the show may be figured out after a certain clue during the latest episode.
The wild ITV talent competition is back for 2023, and fans are already firming up their theories on which celebrities might be behind the masks with a fresh set of clues.
There are 13 contestants on the ITV show this year, including the first ever duo on the programme in Cat and Mouse, following the inclusion of Pillar and Post in The Masked Dancer.
The other celebrities will be behind various costumes including Fawn, Jacket Potato, Piece of Cake, Pigeon, Rhino, Rubbish, Ghost, Jellyfish, Knitting, Otter and Phoenix as they all fight to be crowned the champion of the fourth series.
Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Davina McCall are all returning to the panel for the ITV show, with comedian Joel Dommett on hosting duties.
The theories have already started to roll in and fans now think that Rubbish could be one of the members of boyband JLS, which consists of members Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams, Marvin Humes, and JB Gill.
There was a hint to going solo in the clue package, suggesting it could be a former boyband member. Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "One of the JLS boys," but then opinions divided over which of the members it could be.
Many agreed it could be Marvin, as one wrote: "Marvin from JLS is rubbish?" A second agreed: "The different coloured bins JLS maybe? Marvin possibility."
A third wrote: "Rubbish has to be Marvin Humes," as another added: "Wheelie bin is 100% Marvin Humes!"
Yet another fan was divided, writing: "Just gonna put this out here i think rubbish bin is Ortise from JLS!"
This comes after Jonathan Ross admitted that despite having a front row seat to the masked celebrities, he failed to spot one of his best friends on stage.
Jonathan says: “One of them was definitely a friend. I mean, that was slightly embarrassing, because I didn’t get them right.
“I know this person socially and I’m in touch with this person via text quite a lot and all that kind of thing.
“After the show I texted them and had a chat with them, so that’s embarrassing. It’s the first time it’s happened to me on the show. In my defence, I think we all should have got this person.”
Now in its fourth series, it seems the stars signing up to the hugely popular ITV show will do whatever it takes to avoid being unmasked.
And that means trouble for “detectives” Jonathan, Mo Gilligan, Rita Ora and Davina McCall as they try to identify the characters, which in this series include a rubbish bin, an otter and a jacket potato.
Mo says: “There’s an identity to be revealed on the show which I was so shocked by. You could have been running the show for two years and still no one would’ve got it.
“But the clues are so obvious once you see who it is. I think that’s the one that’s going to be quite fun for the public to try and guess. But the clues this year are so hard. Much harder than ever before.”
Jonathan says: “The weird thing is, once you’ve got the idea in your head for someone and they kind of fit, it’s really hard to snap away from that and think about other people. You keep going back to your strongest guess.”
