A Maryland man, aged 59, was arrested for setting fire to a Domino's store in Westminster, Maryland. The incident occurred on a Saturday morning when the man, identified as George W. Cook, was observed breaking into vehicles at a nearby auto repair shop.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal reported that a witness saw Cook breaking into vehicles at Superior Car Care on Manchester Ave. Subsequently, Cook set fire to the back of the Domino's store located on Baltimore Blvd. Firefighters responded to the scene at around 6:30 a.m. and were able to contain the fire within minutes.
Upon investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal, it was revealed that Cook had been arrested by Westminster Police in the past few weeks for setting small fires within the city limits. These previous incidents involved igniting fires by placing feces into bags or boxes and setting them on fire.
Further details emerged during the investigation, with a Domino's manager informing Deputy State Fire Marshals that Cook had visited the store earlier in the week. He reportedly became aggressive and caused a disturbance after employees refused to provide him with free food.
Cook now faces multiple charges, including second-degree arson, first- and second-degree malicious burning, and malicious destruction of property over $1,000. Additionally, he has been charged by the Westminster Police Department with rogue and vagabond and theft under $100. Cook is currently being held without bond at the Carroll County Detention Center.
