Donald Trump‘s niece Mary Trump, in a new Substack post, delved into the influence her uncle seemingly has on his intransigent supporters.
What Happened: “Thanks to the first two years of the Trump administration, during which 100% of the federal government was under the control of the Republican Party, and thanks to the willingness … of that party to back a fraud, thief, and traitor, that support has grown well beyond the so-called base,” she said in a post on Saturday.
Donald Trump has already stooped to the level of “descending into the gutter to ‘fight for [his supporters],’” Mary Trump, a psychologist, said.
“Donald’s exaggerated displays of confidence and his refusal to play by the rules, continue to draw some people to him while the Republicans … continue to leave the field open for him to dominate,” she added.
Mary Trump noted that “Trump or Death” flags have started to make an appearance, adding that her uncle has failed to to condemn such displays and that he actually embraces such kind of rhetoric.
“As far as Donald is concerned, his followers should be willing to die or kill for him — he believes he’s worth that level of devotion,” she said.
Media Encouraging Horse Race: Mary Trump also blamed the corporate media for not calling out Trump’s threats and rhetoric.
“They need to keep the race between Pres. [Joe] Biden and Donald [Trump] close,” she said of the media outlets’ supposed refusal to do so.
That is why the media is obsessed about Biden’s age and has failed to mention that Donald Trump is only three years younger, “cognitively impaired,” and a “fraudulent traitor to the United States,” Mary Trump said.
“The calculation behind the choices” made by media and the GOP “is related to narrow self-interest,” the psychologist asserted. “The media are only concerned about what will benefit their bottom line; Republicans only care about what will gain them more power,” she added.
“The Republican Party, on the other hand, understands that the future of the party is entirely dependent on following the road map Donald left them — never admit you’re wrong, never take responsibility, and never care about the well-being of anybody other than yourself,” Mary Trump said.
Problems Galore: Mary Trump also highlighted the problems the country is facing, including widespread fires and flooding, while emphasizing the need to address them. Gun deaths, for example, could be solved by banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, taxing bullets, strengthening loopholes, enacting stricter gun laws and instituting gun buy-back programs, she said.
The psychologist claimed the U.S. is up against a “bunch of unreconstructed anti-science, dead-end cultists who apparently believe the only desirable alternative to Donald is death.”
“It’s not that they want to burn it all down in order to get their way — burning it down is what they want,” she said of the former president’s supporters.
