Mary Lou McDonald left unimpressed after bags go missing at Dublin Airport

Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald was left unimpressed after her bags went missing at Dublin Airport.

The Opposition TD had been in the US at an event in San Francisco, California over the weekend and returned home on Sunday evening.

It was part of a number of engagements for Ms McDonald in the States last week.

But she ran into problems when she got back through arrivals in Dublin - as so many have done before her this summer.

There have been social media images from airports around the world where rows upon rows of suitcases and bags have been abandoned after people were left waiting for hours only to not receive them.

And that seems to be what happened Ms McDonald, as she took to social media on Sunday to publicly complain about the situation.

She wrote: "Two hours landed in Dublin from San Francisco and still no bags" before tagging Aer Lingus in the tweet.

Earlier, Ms McDonald thanked those who attended any of her events in the south west of the US last week, writing: "Thank you San Francisco for such a warm welcome. Support for Ireland is so strong. We are proud of the immense contribution of the Irish to California. The opportunity to come home, for those who want to, must now be built by a progressive Irish govt.

"We will work hard for that"

Ms McDonald will have been boosted by the results of the latest opinion poll in the Sunday papers here.

Although her party fell in support by one percent, so did Fine Gael, as Irish voters noted that the cost of living and energy crisis was now the number one topic on the doors.
