Mary Berry is not part of a BBC1 series for the first time in a decade after her cookery show was axed, it has been reported.
Soon after it was announced that beloved show Great British Bake Off was making the controversial move to Channel 4, with three of its stars staying loyal to the BBC, Beeb rival Britain's Best Home Cook was announced.
However, after just four years, it looks like the show - hosted by Claudia Winkleman - has been axed.
A source told The Sun : "This will be a big disappointment to Mary as this was a primetime alternative to the Bake Off which saw her take another high profile role.
“But it’s fair to say it never gained the same audience in a market which is already saturated with cookery programmes."
They added that Dame Mary remains a beloved figure at the BBC and is respected by bosses at the channel, but this wasn't the right show for her.
A BBC rep told the Mirror: "Sometimes we have to make hard decisions in order to make way for new shows, so currently there are no plans to bring back Best Home Cook.
"We would like to thank Mary, Claudia, Angela and Chris for their wonderful contributions to previous series, and we look forward to working with them on other projects in the future"
Mary is still part of BBC Two show Cook & Share and will also film another festive special for December.
It comes after the Great British Bake Off returned earlier this month - but fans were left grossed out after one home baker showed off her strange choice of macaron flavour.
Malaysia-born Syabira confused fans with her savoury flavoured recipe, which consisted of tofu and chicken satay.
As Syabira explained her bake to judges Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith, and co-host Noel Fielding, but neither of the two judges seemed particularly fond of the surprise selection. Noel commented: "I think you are bonkers in the best possible way. I feel like this is so original."
Fans of the show were quick to voice their displeasure at the savoury macarons on social media.
One person wrote on Twitter : "Chicken satay macarons is one of the most offensive things I've heard in my life."
Another commented: "Savoury chicken satay macarons??? I’m very much Team Syabira but I’m not sure about this one."
